4 GENERATIONS MARKET PLACE
About Us:
4 Generations Market Place
4 Generations Market Place has been in business since 2011. It is family owned and operated with branches in Texas and Louisiana. The name "4 Generations" is a way of honoring the business women in my family. Special recognition goes to my great-grandmother, Gladys Hobbs, who was the first in the 4 Generations line of business women. She overcame many obstacles during her life to become a strong, successful business woman, long before the Womens' Rights Movement of the 1960s.
My great-grandmother was born in Louisiana. Her mother died due to tuberculosis when she was six years old. As an adult, she experienced the death of her husband, who passed away at the age of 27 from a heriditary heart condition in the 1930s. The death of her husband left her alone with doctor bills and 2 young children to support. She immediately started cleaning houses to make a living. Later, she got a job at a drive-in and learned about the restaurant business. My great-grandmother saved her money and opened her own business called the C & D Cafe.
She moved on to other ventures that included starting a cab company and later opening a gas station that supplied gasoline for her cabs, the community, and other cab companies. She beat out her competition by selling gas one cent less than her competitors. My grandmother and mother followed in her footsteps and owned businesses of their own. Inspired by these ladies, I started selling my handmade jewelry to the staff at my daycare center when I was 8 years old. Later, I graduated from university with a degree in Chemical Engineering, but business was still in my blood. In my spare time, I learned as much as I could about skin care products. I used my Chemical Engineering background and lots of research to develop products. While working at GE, I began selling my beauty products at craft fairs and events.
During this time, my aunt was experiencing problems with extremely dry skin and breakouts, due a medical problem. Her prescribed medicinal creams didn't work, so I sent her one of my creams. I was very happy when both she and her dematologist were pleased with the positive results. Her dermatologist even wanted to know what ingredients in the cream caused the improvement. This led to an endorsement from her dermatologist. The endorsement validated my efforts, and I continued developing products. With the help of my family, I have expanded my business portfolio to include healthcare products and added other items from my uncle's and parents' businesses to open 4 Generations Market Place online store.
I am the 4th of the 4 Generations legacy of business women. It is with great pride and respect for the women who preceeded me that my family offers you 4 Generations Market Place. Our products include Beauty & Body, Healthcare, Ladies Fashion, Military Hats and Embroidery for all branches of the Military, as well as personalized embroidery for the community at large.
Following our southern roots, we also sell a variety of our own Southern Seasonings that includes Ya Ya's Southern Seasoning, and seasoning packets for dips, gumbo and more. These seasonings are designed to make you lick your fingers and ask for more!

Brandy Guidry
